Las Vegas LED Streetlight Project

PNM in collaboration with the City of Las Vegas, launched a major project to convert all PNM-owned and Las Vegas City streetlights to LED. PNM and the City are converting over 1,000 streetlights in total.

Working with contractor American Power, the project began in mid July. Crews are expecting to complete all conversions by the end of August.

What is this project all about?

All PNM-owned streetlights in the city of Las Vegas will be converted to LEDs.

When will the project start/end?

The project is expected to start in July/August 2023. The project will take about 1.5 to 2 months.

Which streetlights will be converted into LED?

All 900 PNM-owned streetlights in Las Vegas will be converted. Only streetlights within Las Vegas will be converted to LED as part of this project. Lights in all of San Miguel county will not be converted during this project. Please note, streetlights owned by Neighborhood Associations/Homeowner Associations will not be converted. These streetlights are owned by the associations.

Will I be seeing PNM trucks in my neighborhood?

No. PNM has awarded the contract to American Power, and they will be completing the conversion on behalf of PNM. However, if you have any questions regarding this project, please call PNM at 888-DIAL-PNM.

I have a private light that PNM maintains. Will that be converted to LED?

No. Only streetlights are being converted to LED at this time. PNM will not be converting privately owned lights or floodlights during this project.

Who do I call if I see a streetlight out?

Any time you see a streetlight that is out, please report it by using the online tool at pnm.com/streetlights, by calling PNM at 888-DIAL-PNM, or chat with a customer service rep online at PNM.com, M-F, from 7:30am to 6pm. Please be as detailed as possible about the location of the light.

PNM worked closely with the City to ensure the color of light will match the color of City-owned street lights. The LED lights are more true white light vs. a soft yellow that was previously used, and LED wattages will be equivalent to existing light wattages.
