Energy Works - October 2022
An emissions-free future with PNM
At PNM, we are transitioning our generation portfolio to deliver you 100% emissions-free electricity ahead of the timeline in New Mexico's landmark Energy Transition Act.
The retirement of the final unit of the San Juan Generating Station coal-plant at the end of September means we are now serving you with 55% carbon-free electricity, powering more New Mexico homes and businesses with clean energy than ever before.
As we continue our journey, we know that power reliability, affordability and a smart and strong grid are important to our customers. We engage in a year-long public process to ensure your voices remain part of our future energy plans that are ultimately filed with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. Our teams have kicked off the process for this next planning cycle and invite you to join in the development of our twenty-year roadmap into our emissions-free future; learn more at PNM.com/IRP.
A Just Transition
As we continue this transition, we have worked to minimize the impact to employees and local communities from plant closures through job training, educational assistance, severance, and economic development funding for the region.
Please join us in thanking our San Juan Generating Station employees for their role in providing reliable power across New Mexico for nearly half a century and for deeply caring about our customers and communities.

PNM Resources Foundation helps 42 New Mexico nonprofits achieve a brighter future
The PNM Resources Foundation announced the recipients of its 2022 Reduce Your Use grants, cumulatively providing more than $200,000 to nonprofits throughout New Mexico. The funds will be used to complete projects that reduce their energy use and lower their electric bills. These projects include solar panel installations, updating heating and cooling systems, energy efficient lighting, energy saving appliances and more. Completion of these projects will not only save energy and money but will mean a cleaner and healthier environment for their clients and staff.
One of those nonprofits is Saranam. The proposed project construction activities will lead to increased housing stability and increased individual and family resilience. They said their goal is to construct net zero energy homes. With help from the PNM Resources Foundation, their new homes will be supplied with new, energy efficient appliances.
Receiving PNM Resources Foundation Reduce Your Use grants means nonprofits reduce both energy use and carbon emissions while fulfilling their mission in our community.

Indigenous Peoples Day
On Indigenous Peoples Day, we honor America's first inhabitants and the Tribal Nations that continue to thrive today. The contributions that Indigenous peoples have made throughout history - in public service, entrepreneurship, scholarship, the arts, and countless other fields - are integral to our nation, our culture, and our society. In the next few weeks and months, celebrations and recognitions of the many Indigenous communities and cultures that make up our great country, including our 23 New Mexico tribal nations, will be taking place. The United States flag will be displayed on all public buildings on the appointed day and the PNM logo will be changed in honor of the diverse history and the Indigenous peoples who contribute to shaping this nation.
