Increased Energy Usage during Winter

In the cold winter months, it takes more energy to keep your home warm. You can't control the weather, but you can control your thermostat, which has a big effect on your bill. Set your thermostat as low as comfort permits. You can expect a three to five percent savings in energy use for every degree you set the thermostat lower in the winter.
