Wind Safety Tips
The spring season may bring strong winds across New Mexico, which could increase the risk of power outages due to broken tree limbs and other wind damage. Prepare for potential disruptions by taking a few steps ahead of the weather.
Stay Safe
Stay away from downed power lines. If you see a downed power line, do not touch it or anything in contact with it. Call 911 and PNM immediately at 888-DIAL-PNM. Never try to remove a broken tree limb or branch that has come into contact with a power line.
Secure Outdoor Items. Make sure items in your yard that could blow away are anchored down, and if not, bring them inside. Those items could fly into power lines and cause an outage if not secured or removed.
Build or restock your emergency preparedness kit, including food, water, a flashlight, batteries, back up phone charger, cash and first aid supplies.
Always consider a power line energized and dangerous. Call PNM at 888-DIAL-PNM.

Time of Day
You are encouraged to take advantage of a voluntary rate plan that will help you save on your monthly bills.
Through the Time-of-Day rate plan, electricity prices are lower on weekends and during off-peak hours. As you shift your electricity usage to these lower-cost time periods, you can save energy and reduce your electric bill.
Season/Peak Period | Time-of-Day Rate |
---|---|
Summer On-Peak $0.31/kWh | 15 hours a week (Monday-Friday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.) |
Summer Off-Peak $0.08/kWh | 153 hours a week (All other hours) |
Non-Summer On-Peak $0.17/kWh | 30 hours a week (Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.) |
Non-Summer Off-Peak $0.07/kWh | 138 hours a week (All other hours) |
Budget Billing
Budget Billing gives you more predictable energy bills by balancing seasonal highs and lows, taking the guesswork out of your monthly bill. Once signed up, you'll pay the same amount every month - making budgeting and planning much easier.
You still pay for the energy you use, but your total costs are spread evenly throughout the year. Budget Billing amounts are evaluated twice a year, usually in February and August, and may go up or down based on your actual usage and updated energy costs.
