PNM helps connect Diné (Navajo) families to the power grid for the first time.

Imagine life without electricity. Without any lights, cooling, microwaves, television, without computers, or cell phones. Picture life where refrigerators do not exist because there is no electric power. For approximately 14,000 families on the Navajo Nation, this is reality.

PNM line crews recently traveled to the greater Shiprock, New Mexico area and in tribal communities located in Arizona and Utah volunteering in a nationwide utility collaboration project called Light Up Navajo. The Navajo Nation, American Public Power Association, and the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA), launched the Light Up Navajo project in 2019 to energize homes that have never had power.

PNM was one of the electric utility companies in the country that proudly participated in this life-changing project, including utilities from Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, California, Connecticut, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Utah, and Washington D.C.

This year, the 11-week Light Up Navajo initiative worked to connect 300 homes on the Navajo Nation to the electric grid for the first time. Seven journeyman linemen represented PNM, worked alongside NTUA crews, and other utility volunteer linemen, to construct and install new power poles and run new distribution lines to energize existing homes that have never had electricity. Since the Light Up Navajo project started in 2019, approximately 7,000 family homes have been connected to the power grid.

PNM believes it is our collective responsibility to ensure that everyone have access to these essential amenities, regardless of their geographical location or socioeconomic status. We are immensely proud of our PNM crews for connecting so many Navajo families to the electric grid for the first time. Their technical skills have forever improved so many lives.

Anytime without power can be frustrating but we want you to know that our crews won't stop working until all service is restored to those impacted.

The safety of our customers and crews is one of our core values at PNM. If you do see our crews working please do not approach them so they can safely and quickly bring the power back on.

If you want updates on outages that impact you, you can sign up for text alerts by texting #ALERT to 78766. This will give you updates and let you know when your service is restored.

PNM employees, family and friends participated in the Albuquerque PrideFest 2023 Parade on Central in Nob Hill last month. They walked along the parade route with a PNM electric vehicle in front of thousands of spectators. This event benefits the local nonprofit, Albuquerque Pride Inc., and is a great way to participate in one of Albuquerque's largest parades and LGBTQIA+ events - sponsored by PNM.

Celebrating PNM Resources Foundation 40th Anniversary through creativity and art

Celebrating PNM Resources Foundation 40th Anniversary through creativity and art

PNM Resources Foundation is proud to announce its 40th anniversary with a commitment to give back to the community it serves. The Foundation awarded $700,000 in grants to 44 nonprofits that have demonstrated a commitment to important issues around education, inclusion, the environment, and community vitality. Artrageous, a world-renowned American troupe, recently celebrated the foundation's significant contributions to communities with a student-led performance and live art installation from Artrageous Artreach camp kids over the weekend at the African American Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque.

As the PNM Resources Foundation celebrates 40 years of giving, it is reminded of the importance and responsibility of supporting the community. Artreach gives audiences and children a positive experience that changes their lives for the better. The Foundation is so honored and impressed by the incredible work done to showcase the Foundation's values in such a beautifully expressive way.
